“Allah has cursed me and my family,” Nadia said with anguish on her face as her husband looked on with agreement. “first the cancer and now my mother has wandered off and we can’t find her. Allah has cursed my family!”
Nadia has been working in a neighboring country as a domestic helper for several years. Her employer is a foreigner and a follower of Isa Al Masih and has tried to share faith and answers from the Injil. Nadia just could not believe that Allah would be interested in her life.
It all started when Nadia’s Mother took a trip visit family. After sometime the senile mother decided she wanted to return and wandered off and got lost. The Mother’s photo was published in the paper and on the television but could not be found. Her employer’s wife prayed with her in the name of Isa Al Masih. She was given the Injil to read and her employers prayed privately and with her many times.
With all this happening with her mother Nadia was diagnosed with cancer. It scared her and the thought of dying was a real burden. She confided in her employer’s wife and they prayed in the name of Isa Al Masih that the cancer would go away. She was skeptical. As a Muslim she was brought up that Allah was just the opposite of this Isa Al Masih. The God that she’d learned of was distant, harsh and judgmental. This Isa Al Masih caring, loving and forgiving. So, she went to the hospital and they removed this growth and with surprise found out that no further treatment would be necessary.
Nadia’s faith started to grow but there was still the mother, lost and maybe dead.
Because of a very unusual flight change Faarooq flew into the city to visit her employer. Faarooq is a follower of Isa Al Masih from her home area and has suffered for following Isa. He came into the household and learned of the situation. After seeking Isa’s direction, he prayed with her – singing the scriptures and praying that Isa Al Masih, who healed her from cancer, would find the mother and she would be ok!
That was a Monday.
On the following Wednesday night, we were sitting down to a meal and the employer received a text from her.
“My mother has been found and is safe”
We all praised Isa Al Masih together. Now, Nadia is not a believer yet, but….
