3rd Galilean Excellence in Christian Media Awards

3rd Galilean Excellence in Christian Media Awards

Mumbai, India – November 27, 2009 – The Third Galilean Awards (“Excellence in Christian Media Awards”) will be held on Thursday 7th January 2010 at the Kamaraj Arangam, Chennai, India.  Galilean International Film and Television Services has spearheaded this effort for the past several years.

Galilean International Film and Television Services came into being in 1979 with seven Indian Christian professionals of the marketplace pooling resources under the initiative of Rev. Dr. C. D. Jebasingh who at that time was an Airline Executive.

“Galilean” launched a Talent Search program at its first National Conference on Visual Media Evangelism in 1998 at Bombay. The project evolved into the institution of a Bi-annual “Galilean Awards – Excellence in Christian Media” in January 2006 to encourage and recognize that the pursuit of excellence is an imperative God’s Word demands.

Excellence is maximizing the gifts that God has given. Encouraging pursuit of excellence is vital in the information age. Technologies enhance the communication of the Gospel that speeds up what our Master has predicted in Mathew 24:14. St. Paul exhorts “Approve the things that are excellent” (Romans 2:18; Philippians 1:10). Proverbs 22:29 says, “Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before mean men”.

Galilean Awards are given bi-annually to recognize and encourage:
·           Those who within the country of India have made significant contribution to produce and use visual media for the communication of the gospel.
·           Those from Overseas who have pioneered in effective missions outreach in the country through visual media.
·           Those Indian Christians who produce excellent products of film, television and music for creative gospel communications.

A professionally scripted, creative multi-media presentation involving Christian Media Professionals in the marketplace in planned for the day of the awards. “Visual Media for Christ” is the theme.
